Chapter 25: Bodhisattva Regarder of
the Cries [Kannon]
The sutra states, "The Bodhisattva Kannon with his mystic
wisdom/Can save such a suffering world. Perfect in supernatural powers/Widely
practiced in wisdom and tact." Now, in Latter Day of the Law, the benefit of Nichiren and his disciples who
chant Nam Myoho Renge Kyo is to that of Kannon as heaven is to earth or clouds
to mud. (Gosho Zenshu p. Kannon represents the essence of the Lotus Sutra, that is, the essence that
is Nam Myoho Renge Kyo.
